Welcome to
Port Augusta Secondary
Port
Augusta Secondary School provides a quality learning environment for all
students from years 8 to 12. We are a comprehensive, co-educational
secondary school catering for a diverse range of educational needs.
Prior to 2010 the
school comprised of a Middle School campus and a Senior School campus
approximately 2 km apart. Each was unique, offering a broad range of
programs which best suit the learning styles of that group of students.
During 2010/11 our
current Senior School campus on Stirling road is underwent a major
capital works program which saw the amalgamation of our two
campuses and transformed the school into a state of the art contemporary
secondary school.
Our new amalgamated
school comprises a purpose built Middle School specifically
designed to meet the needs of young adolescents. In this learning space
small teaching teams and learning communities work together to develop a
middle schooling culture based on a positive attitude to learning in an ICT rich environment.
Our new Senior School
provides a wide range of vocational and academic pathways for
students within the context of the SACE in a modern environment designed
to meet the needs of young adults.
At the beginning of 2012
the school moved on to the new Stirling site, having spent time
at the Seaview
campus developing and implementing plans for an improved and well
functioning Year 8-12 school with a new and revitalised culture.
We are looking forward to seeing the results of this planning, and are
continuing to strive to improve practices, facilities and, ultimately,
the outcomes for our students.
As outlined in Mr Owens' recent article in
the Transcontinental newspaper, curriculum guides for Yrs 8-10 and 11-12
can be found on our Planning and
Reporting page.
