"Come
along and enjoy the experience" |
Port Augusta Secondary School
provides a safe learning environment for students from years 8 to 12. We
are a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school catering for a
diverse range of educational needs.
Our
school has two campuses approximately 2 km apart. Each is unique in its
self, offering in appropriate settings, teaching and learning which best
suit the learning style of that group of students.
|
|
Seaview Campus (Years 8 and
9 students) has developed programs for young adolescent students' where
small teaching teams and learning communities work together to develop a
middle schooling culture based on building relationships and positive
attitude to learning. |
|
. |
|
Stirling Campus (Years 10 - 12+ students) has
developed a range of programs for 'Young Adult Students' with SSABSA/SACE,
VET and general programs which promote success and build independent
learning skills and responsibility.
|
|
The Seaview Campus includes years 8 and 9. This allows us to focus on
the concept of a smooth transition for emerging adolescent learners.
The Middle School acknowledges the unique needs of students moving
from childhood to adolescence.
The intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth and well being
of young adolescents provides the focus for the curriculum, teaching
methods, organisation and policies of the Campus.
The school has an IT focus with excellent facilities at both campuses. |

As the students move through the school to the post compulsory years
there is a broadening range of subjects offered and students have
increasing choice of their study program.
At year 11 and 12 students study SACE Stage 1 and 2 subjects. Their
choice of subjects is determined by student interests, aspirations and
the patterns of learning required to complete SACE.
Community based vocationally orientated programs feature prominently
in our curriculum offerings at the Stirling campus. The se include
Aquaculture, Marine Studies, VET units and Outdoor Education. School
based apprenticeships are offered to students as they are supported by
our 4 day week timetable at the senior campus. |
